Tanned eyes

Hello sweeties,

It’s late May and it’s cold and rainy in Paris. Yes, it is. As the weather seems to want to go back to autumn, I decided to rebel. Yes, I did. With my eye make-up. With golden, bronze and other warm shades. We lead the revolution we can.

The result is soft and discrete. Will I dare to say that it’s cozy? A cozy make-up, that doesn’t make much sense. But, I mean, it’s easy to wear. There’s no eyeliner required, you don’t need to be very precise about the application, as the eyeshadows shades are from the same family and as you blend as much as possible to create some kind of halo. Let’s say it’s cozy.
Oh and I wore some orangey lipstick with that. Ok, I didn’t take a lot of risk, but at least it matches.

Rainbows and unicorns and cameleons and stop.

Hello sweeties,

I received my Sasa.com orders the other day and it looks like this :

Sasa © WinaChristmas in May. I am so excited. I can’t wait to try all that. But patience, patience, it will be done at the right time. I opened only 3 things : Sasatinnie Japanese Accessory Facial Cleansing, Naruko Rose & Snow Fungus Aqua Cubic Complex and Cameleon 36 Color Professional Eyeshadow Palette (God, that’s long names).

Cameleon 1 © Wina Cameleon 2 © Wina

First thing that I noticed when I opened it is that it smells like the old eyeshadows. You know, our mothers ones. It’s a powdery smell, almost reassuring, that I don’t really find in actual eyeshadows. The eyeshadows size is very small (it’s like the size of an average thumb nail) but the intensity of most of them is pretty good. With an eyeshadow base, it really is satisfying and resistance is nice, it doesn’t crease much, although I have greasy eyelids (yurk). The eyeshadows are very pearly and some shades are gorgeous. It cost me less than US$8, so it’s good value.

Bad news is that :

  • It’s a bit powdery, so beware of fall out when applying
  • the black eyeshadow pigmentation is so disappointing, more so as it’s the only matte of the palette
  • The “make up collection” is written in Comic sans MS, which should be forbidden
  • It seems that it’s not on the website anymore, but I guess you can find it elsewhere

[Sorry for the swatches quality, it was under natural light yet, but anyway]

Don’t worry, I did some make-ups with the palette. See you in the week for the tutorials!

Pshiew Pshiew #3

Hello sweeties,

Let’s start this Pshiew Pshiew with the *usual* skateboard video. Because this one is really hilarious.

Dang, how much I laughed when I watched that. It’s so mindfucking. Brilliant. Plus, there’s Foster The People as soundtrack. What more could you ask for? A singing unicorn? Ok, a singing unicorn.

You have to know that I actually am afraid of muppets and I was half crying, half laughing while watching this video. But the Internet is full of surprise and founding this Doctor Who inspired wedding cheered me up.

And guess what? There’s also a video.

THEIR VOWS MADE ME CRY. THEY ARE SO PERFECT. Special thanks to Vanessa who made me discover this beauty.

Now, you might wonder “ok, we got the skate part, the Doctor Who part… What about the Pokemon part?”. There we go :

That actually is pretty sad. So let’s end with a happy feeling video that will make you (even more) want to go to Japan.

Yeah!

Favorite nude so far

Hello sweeties,

I have to show you my favorite nude lipstick so far. It’s from Agnès b., in the b. perfect line, in the Roses à porter collection (oh my, it’s never ending), and the shade is Rose Feutrée (phew).

b perfect Rose Feutrée 1 © Winab perfect Rose Feutrée 3 © Winab perfect Rose Feutrée 2 © WinaWhen I dyed my hair blonde, I discovered the beauty of nude lipsticks. Before that, I was like “nude lipstick? Bullshit, why not just keeping your lips natural then?”, but actually, nude lipsticks have their utility. The difference might be subtile, but that will be what makes your final look perfect. You just need a lip colour that is slightly pinkier, peachier ou beigier and it makes all the difference.

b perfect Rose Feutrée 4 © WinaThese last times I’m addicted to Agnès b. Rose Feutrée. It’s supposed to be a matte lipstick, but as you can see, the rendering isn’t so matte.

b perfect Rose Feutrée 5 © Wina

See how beautiful this is? That peachy pink delicately warms my lip colour up and it’s way much flattering for my skin colour than my natural lip colour. The colour isn’t too light, I just think it’s perfect for my skin tone.
This is clearly not a matte lipstick, rather a semi-matte maybe, but it’s perfect, the rendering is very natural.

This baby costs 18,50€, which I think is very very expensive, considering the size of the lipstick (it’s smaller than my thumb)(and my thumb is reasonable). But there are regular sales on the website (fr), so, just be aware and maybe you’ll get it for 5€ like I did.

Hair care – April 2013

Hello sweeties,

I should have post this article earlier, because we’re already mid-May, but anyway. April (and March and February) was get-my-hair-back-to-life style, since I stopped bleaching and dying my hair.

  • Daddy-O shampoo – Lush

hair routine april 2013 2 © WinaA friend of mine gave it to me for my birthday last winter and even if I’m not platinum blonde anymore, I still use it. Because I don’t like waste. But also because I love the smell. It dries my hair a bit, but so much for that. I’m weak.

  • American Cream conditioner – Lush

hair routine april 2013 3 © WinaI’m in love with the smell and it’s a nice conditioner. One of my favourite Lush products. I ended my last bottle 2 weeks ago and I was super sad, of course, but also super excited because I eventually could use my new Korres Almond & Linseed conditioner (I’ll talk about it next month yeah yeah).

  • Marilyn hair treatment – Lush

hair routine april 2013 4 © Winahair routine april 2013 5 © WinaSame thing than Daddy-O : I’m not blonde anymore, but I don’t want to waste it, so I keep applying it. It’s ok, but not as awesome as René Furterer Carthame treatment.

  • Carthame hair mask – René Furterer

hair routine april 2013 6 © Winahair routine april 2013 7 © Wina

Best mask for dry hair ever. It literally brought my hair back to life after the bleaching and the dying. It’s very efficient. I love the custard texture and the kind of reassuring smell. It’s a bit sweet and creamy. You almost want to eat it haha. Plus, it’s silicone free.

  • Castoroil – Aromazone

hair routine april 2013 8 © WinaI want my hair to be long again and I’ve read that castor oil might be helpful for the growth. So, once to twice a month, I do hair masks with it : I apply the oil on my hair, massage the scalp, leave it for the night and wash it off in the morning. It’s easier to wash off if you mix the oil with some aloe vera gel. I don’t know if it works much, but for the moment, it’s not bad.
For the record, you can also use castor oil on the eyelashes and eyebrows. That’s what I did for a month and I could see a difference. My eyebrows grew faster, but not more unfortunately. My eyelashes became a little longer (or maybe it was in my mind haha), but mainly much stronger, they stopped to break and fall down with the eyelash curler
. A great investment!

Blood, desire and insanity

Hello sweeties,

Last weekend, I saw Stoker. A few weeks ago, I saw the film posters in the subway and I thought “I really need to see that, there’s Mia Wasikowska”. Like most of us I think, I discovered her in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and immediately fell in love with her. She’s of the actresses who look smart besides being absolutely gorgeous. She looks delicate, cute and kind, but you feel like you can’t mess with her or something like that. I find her fascinating in some way. She’s definitely one of my favourite actresses.

So, yes, I needed to go watch that film. But when I took a look at the trailer, I freaked out. “Oh God, there’s so much blood, I can’t watch that”. You have to know that I can’t bear seeing blood on-screen. I could deeply cut my arm or anything else and bleed badly, I wouldn’t mind. Well, I’d pee in my pants because I’d be afraid of losing my arm, but I’d be ok with seeing blood. But if I see blood on-screen, I totally feel bad. Even a drop. It really really makes me feel uncomfortable. So I was quite worried about watching Stoker, but I plucked up courage and bought a pack of candies to reassure me.

What is it all about by the way? It’s a family story, the one of India and her mother who lost their father and husband – Mr Stoker – in a car accident. Mr Stoker’s brother – uncle Charlie – appears in their life after the funerals. Officially, he comes to keep them company in that ordeal, but it seems that disturbing feelings are going to emerge… Murders and hidden desires are to the program.  *anxious soundtrack dum dum duuum*

I really don’t regret watching the film. First because it’s absolutely brilliant. Second because the candies were very good.

Esthetically, I think it’s beautiful. It’s well filmed, there are very interesting motions. The scenes  follow fluently and it suits the atmosphere of the story. The cinematography is very nice, it definitely is pleasant to the eye. But not only, it also is full of meaning and interpretation. Each shot is thought to serve the story, to be part of it and not only to be pretty or impressive.

Concerning the story, it’s very well written in my opinion. Some things are maybe a little too obvious, but the whole story telling is great. I was scared sometimes, but I thought that it would be worse. It’s well balanced, between anxiety and expectation. I’d say it’s reasonable on that point. I mean, the story isn’t what we could call reasonable : it’s violent, perverse, psychotic. The perfect show for the peeping Toms that we are. But you won’t leave the theater with the heart about to explode of fear (which is a good point for me).
At the same time, the film is perfectly intense, in particular on the feelings of the characters. They seem very… Pure. It’s hard to explain, but it’s very spontaneous, the characters seem to live in their own world and nothing reach their feelings, even those are not socially acceptable.

Stoker is definitely to be seen. Beautifully disturbing.

3D flowers

Hello sweeties,

So, last month I bought a polymer flower nail wheel (for those interested, I took these ones). I was basically looking for the fruit one, but didn’t find it. Anyway, I was really excited about trying it and then I realized that it was pretty thick, I was like “man, how am I going to put those stuff on my nails?”.

3D flowers 1 © WinaFor the colour block thing, I did the tape technique. First, you apply the base colour, then you use tape to delimitate the zones to fill in other colours. Make sure that each previous coat is dry before applying the following. I don’t know if what I’m saying is clear so here’s a pic :

3D flowers 3 © WinaI used H&M scented nail polish in Green Apple (I’ll review it soon), Gold by Gilles Blue Lagoon (I think it’s discontinued?) and H&M Yellow of the nail polish set. Then I drew the gold lines with H&M Golden Treasure. I eventually *glued* the flowers with my Essie All In One Base. And I top coated all that with Essie Good To Go, as usual.

I couldn’t keep it for more than 2 days. The feeling was just too weird when my fingers were touching my nails, I always wanted to scratch it off ha. The result is pretty fun though.
